The President of the "Together to the summit" Foundation, Silvia Azdreeva, was awarded with the title of "Honorary Citizen of Petrich" at an official ceremony held on 28.10.2022 and coinciding with the celebrations on the 110th anniversary of the liberation of Petrich and Pirin Macedonia. The award was presented personally by the mayor, Mr. Dimitar Bruchkov. In her speech upon receiving the honor, Silvia Azdreeva stated that she was always connected to her native town and region and that she will even more widely promote its beauty, unique nature, cultural and historical sites.
“I would like my achievement of climbing the peaks of Everest and Lhotse not only to mark a record in the history of Bulgarian mountaineering, but above all to motivate young people in our region to believe in themselves. To not be afraid of the trials they face, to strive boldly and consistently to climb their own summits - in life, in their professional development, in their growth as worthy individuals. And I will help them with everything I am capable of," Silvia Azdreeva addressed the many young fellow citizens present at the ceremony.
The most emotional moment of the event was the presentation to the Petrich Municipality of the town’s flag, which she waved when she climbed the two Himalayan peaks. "Today I am so excited as the moment I set foot on „the roof of the World“- Mount Everest. Then, in the moments of extreme exhaustion, but also of great satisfaction, I mentally looked towards Bulgaria and towards my native Petrich. And together with the national flag, I also waved the flag of our Petrich!" - the Bulgarian climber did not hide her excitement.
